The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is a new three-row electric SUV from JSW MG Motor India, launched in August 2026. It is the first MG model in India to be based on the company’s ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology), a multi-new-energy platform designed to accommodate EV and hybrid powertrains. The Tomahawk EV is offered with both 5-seat and 7-seat configurations, giving buyers greater flexibility.
Design and Dimensions
The Tomahawk EV has a large, upright SUV design aimed at combining road presence with practicality. It measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,770 mm in height, while its 2,810 mm wheelbase helps create a spacious cabin. MG also claims 85% usable floor area and offers flexible 5- and 7-seat layouts.
The EV version features a distinctive closed-off front grille, giving it a clear electric identity. Other highlights include a panoramic cockpit SkyRoof, modern LED lighting and large alloy wheels.
Electric Powertrain and Range
The Hector Tomahawk EV uses a 69.2 kWh LFP MAGIC Battery paired with a permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor. The motor produces 204 PS (150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque and drives the front wheels. MG claims a 0–100 km/h time of 8.2 seconds.
The claimed MIDC range is 517 km on a single charge, making the Tomahawk EV suitable for both daily urban use and longer highway journeys.
For charging, the SUV supports 7.4 kW AC charging and up to 90 kW DC fast charging. MG claims approximately 35 minutes for a 30–80% charge using a 90 kW DC charger.
Technology and Features
Technology is one of the major highlights of the Tomahawk EV. It gets a 39.6 cm (15.6-inch) Grand View HD display, an 8.8-inch multi-information display, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-speaker Infinity premium audio system.
MG has also equipped it with i-SMART 3.0, connected-car functions and an India-focused GenAI voice assistant capable of understanding more than 30 Hinglish commands. A segment-first i-SWIPE gesture-control system allows users to operate functions such as AC, fan, temperature and volume using hand gestures.
Other notable features include 256-colour ambient lighting, panoramic SkyRoof, rear window sunshades, PM2.5 air filtration, pet mode, valet mode, camp mode and energise mode.
Safety
The Hector Tomahawk EV comes with a strong safety package including 6 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, Electronic Stability Control, TPMS and ABS with EBD. The vehicle is built around MG's ADAPT architecture, while an official NCAP rating is yet to be announced.
Space and Practicality
The 5-seat version offers a 610-litre boot, while the 7-seat version provides 192 litres with all three rows in use and up to 528 litres with the third row folded. This makes the 5-seater particularly attractive for buyers prioritising luggage capacity, while the 7-seater focuses more on passenger flexibility.
The EV also offers Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology, allowing the vehicle's battery to supply power to a compatible home during a power outage. It also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) for powering compatible appliances and equipment.
Price and Variants
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is available in Excite, Exclusive and Essence variants. The introductory full-ownership ex-showroom prices are:
- Excite 7S: ₹19.49 lakh
- Exclusive 7S: ₹21.99 lakh
- Essence 5S: ₹22.99 lakh
- Essence 7S: ₹23.49 lakh
MG is also offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, with the EV starting at ₹13.99 lakh + ₹4.90/km battery rental for a limited number of bookings.
Verdict
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV brings together a large family-SUV format, a 517 km claimed range, flexible 5/7-seat layouts and a long list of technology features. Its 69.2 kWh battery, 204 PS motor, V2H capability, Level 2 ADAS and BaaS ownership option make it one of MG's most ambitious EV offerings in India. With deliveries planned from September 2026, the Tomahawk EV is positioned as a practical and technology-focused electric SUV for buyers looking beyond conventional petrol and diesel family SUVs
